Cyberpunk 2077 Item Upgrading Guide
It is a crucial element to maximize your gearing potential. It allows you to add bonus stats and bonuses on top of your base level item's value.
Each upgrade template comes with a set of options which can be set up through the edition GUI. These options include upgrading reference as well as upgrading chance.
Upgrade components

Obtaining these is fairly simple, as they are dropped by enemies or taken all over the world. Gems are, however are obtained by disassembling items or completing certain missions.
Upgrades can be taken out and replaced with new ones that fit in the weapon's slot. However, this will destroy any previous upgrades. Except for glyphs, which can be added to gathering tools, all other upgrades cannot be removed or salvaged after they have been placed in an item. Infusions can be placed into legendary and upgraded equipment. Enrichments can only be retrieved using a high-quality salvaging kit or an upgrade extractor.
Recycled Items
In the two recent world wars, a shortage of natural resources led the world to embrace recycling. Recycling aluminum, plastic and paper is a common practice. They are given a new life.
